Is forehead reduction surgery painful? In most cases, there is very little to no pain with forehead reduction surgery. Most patients will report mild soreness the first evening after surgery, but it is very rare for patients to have any significant pain. Patients are provided pain medication to take as needed.
When performed by trained doctors this procedure is very safe and complications are rare. All of the following complications are treatable and may include swelling, bruising, skin irregularities, asymmetries, puckering of the skin, infection and collections of old blood.
While healing time can vary between patients, recovery typically takes about two to three weeks. It is important to avoid heavy lifting and other strenuous activities until your surgeon says it is ok to resume them. For some patients, a follow-up hair transplant procedure can further lower the hairline if desired.
There is very little post-surgery pain associated with hairline restoration surgery. The most common side effect is slight facial swelling, generally in the forehead and eye area. Most often this is not painful, but may require up to 7 days for it to subside completely.
