This procedure involves making an incision in the scalp and removing a piece of bone from the skull to give the neurosurgeon access to the tumor. You will probably feel very tired for several weeks after surgery. You may also have headaches or problems concentrating. It can take a month or two to recover from surgery. Your cuts (incisions) may be sore after surgery. As with any surgery, brain surgery carries risks of bleeding, infection or reactions to anesthesia. Other side effects that can occur immediately after surgery include: Aphasia (difficulty speaking). Brain swelling. Surgery is the usual treatment for most brain tumors.
