Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy)

Endodontics, commonly referred to as root canal therapy, is a dental procedure aimed at treating infections or inflammation within the tooth’s pulp. The pulp, which contains nerves and blood vessels, can become infected due to deep decay, repeated dental procedures, or injury. During a root canal, the dentist removes the infected pulp, cleans and shapes the inside of the tooth, and then fills and seals the space. This procedure preserves the tooth, prevents further infection, and alleviates pain. Often, a crown is placed on the treated tooth to restore its function and appearance. Root canal therapy is essential for saving teeth that would otherwise need to be extracted.
